Thornton Central School is located on Route 175 north in Thornton, New Hampshire. TCS is a member of SAU #48 which also has schools in six other nearby towns. TCS currently serves grades K-8. After completion of grade 8 students may attend Plymouth Regional High School, located in nearby Plymouth, New Hampshire.

TCS offers a winter activities program, intramural athletics, and has competed in Global Finals for Destination Imagination. TCS is a participant in TPSE . This program provides 7th and 8th Graders at TCS with a 1:1 computing environment. The students are issued their own Mac laptops to use for the year.
